Chef's Steves Bio

Born in Gary, Indiana, and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Chef's Steve is the eldest of four siblings. From an early age, he took on the responsibility of caring for his family, often cooking meals for his younger siblings while his mother worked hard to provide. With an absent father, Chef's Steve stepped up to help feed his family, unknowingly beginning his journey into the world of food.

Like many young people faced with adversity, his path took unexpected turns. After a difficult period during his teenage years, including time spent for an armed robbery, he was sent to live with his father in Detroit for a year. Returning to Florida, he found himself caught in the cycle of street life, selling drugs from the age of 19 to 33.

However, life had more in store for him. It was during this time that Chef's Steve discovered his true passion: cooking. His first steps into the food industry felt less like work and more like second nature. With each experience, his love for food deepened, and he honed his skills, helping to build multiple successful companies along the way.

Now, with years of experience and a deep-rooted passion for Southern comfort food, Chef's Steve is ready to take the next step in his journey by creating Kettle and Spoon. With a vision to bring soulful, flavorful dishes to the community, he is committed to building something special—a brand that reflects his passion, resilience, and dedication to the craft of cooking.
